Where do bananas fit into your diet?

As readers of this site know, The Ratchet Diet is a set of guidelines. It does not contain hard and fast rules that you must follow to the letter 24 times 7. So although fruit is not recommended while you are trying to lose weight, there is a time and place when some fruits may be enjoyed on a limited basis.



Many people claim that bananas are too high in carbohydrates to consume while on a diet while others point out that bananas are highly nutritious and  may help to lose weight.

Some of the good aspects of bananas are:

  • Bananas are high in potassium.
  • Bananas are high in fibre
  • Bananas are nutrient rich
  • Bananas are low in calories
  • Bananas are low in fat
  • Bananas are a low GI food

Bananas have been an important part of our culture for many centuries now.   Who could forget the crooning of Harry Belefonte aboard the Good Ship Banana?

  1. I was fully agree that Bananas should be on any diet. Not just for losing weight but also for improving Sexual Virility for men.

    ELIMINATE JUNK FOOD Eating a healthy diet promotes physical and emotional health as well as healthy sexual function and virility. Eat a diet heavy in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean cuts of meat and fish, and low-fat dairy to increase sexual virility and improve sexual function.
    ADD GARLIC TO YOUR DIET Garlic is rich in allicin, which can improve blood flow to the sexual organs, which in turn promotes healthy sexual function and strong, hard erections.   4. Hmm I started reading your post and as I scrolled down some of the videos of girls eating bananas looked a bit … not sure how best to put this. Well it looked to me like those young ladies are treating the banana like its a man’s you know what.
    Some of those videos are a bit pornographic (in a nice sort of way). I tried to do the same thing at home with a banana and my husband came in from work while I was giving that banana a really good workout. What happened next was interesting to say the least. He came up behind me, grabbed both my breasts and started kissing my next while I continued sucking on the banana. Before you know it we were getting undressed and headed to the bedroom.
    The banana ended up going somewhere else that I wont mention on the internet and then he ate it. yuk. Anyway I thought I would share that story. Not sure if I lost any weight but it was fun trying. Looking forward to more posts on this site about fruit 🙂

  7. I will make this brief. I started following your advice about six months ago. Took me awhile to get into the habit of daily weighing and keeping within the ratchet but eventually it started to stick and the weight started to shift.

    What I like is that I have lost over 10 kilos but my boobs have staid the same size (I wear a double D bra). I was a bit worried that I would lose the weight everywhere and lose some of my femininity.

    My life was on hold when I was carrying all that weight but my confidence is soaring now. My husband and myself are swingers which means that I spend a lot of time naked in the company of strangers.

    You have no idea how much better I feel about myself since losing the weight and firming up in all the right place.

    This site has proven to be a life saver for me.

    Once again a fantastic post with loads of great information.

    Thanks to you I have started to follow Freelee the Banana Girl. This was going OK until the police stopped me one evening and said that it’s against the law in Australia to follow people around. I was headed to the slammer until told the boys in blue that I was from Queensland. They seemed to think that explained my weird behaviour and let me off with a caution.
